It’s a thing of beauty but it must be a nightmare to look after. You wouldn’t want to rub a gritty shammy over that

I know, I would certainly want to find put more before opting for it. Mind you, at the moment it would seem I have plenty of time till it becomes an issue! Wouldn't want to overdo the 'patina' effect.

I don't think I could ever tire of polishing a cowl

The ARP4 in the photo does look pretty special

I like a contrast in colour and the contrast with the matt and gloss finish as well really makes it special

I did have a little dream and was saving up of one day ordering a factory built 4 seater with this spec:

Polished cowl and bonnet which I would do myself and ask the factory to leave raw. I'd then engine turn to final finish and get it professionally lacquered
Matt finish black tonneau - in homage to a time when coach builders covered the tonneau in painted fabric
Gloss black front and back wings with extra gloss coating
Gloss black side screens so it contrasts with the tonneau
Dark red 'Imperial' or 'Mulberry' leather
Dark red wing beading
Either a dark red or black hood (hadn't decided)
I'd then make an engine turned dash
Swap the instrument bezels for brass
And get the front grille brass coated

The end of the 4 seater has put paid to that little dream but some of the elements may revive in a slightly different project

Makes my orange and cranberry curd on toast sound a little plain.
