F Pace and the new Volvo V90 XCross also on the list ? No. The Jaguar F Pace is nice but in the same configuration is about €10K more. For me it is a bit too SUV. A sort of luxury Disco The Volvo V90 XCross is too much a family station wagon. Not really what I want. I also had a brief look at the Lexus IS Hybrid F Sport (rear wheel drive only) which is probably in a similar class and price bracket as the Jaguar XE AWD R-Sport but it is nowhere near as good looking. I find the current range of Lexus cars a bit brutal. I am a bit worried about the political moves against diesel and can only hope that the Euro 6 Diesels with AddBlue manage to remain acceptable.

Nice but I have never been a fan of Skoda. There is also the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, but, at least for the moment, I have had enough of Alfa.

The new Opel/Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer seems to be a step up for them. I do like the new design style they are using. For a company in a difficult place (middle market) they are developing well. I guess it will be a little too late for you Peter. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/vauxhall/in...estate-unveiled

I guess it will be a little too late for you Peter. Yep. Too late. I have just ordered the Jaguar XE AWD R-Sport in British Racing Green with a few little extras. 8 speed auto with paddle shift, black leather (I would have preferred tan but for some reason best known to the marketing dept. it is not available), xenon headlights, navigator, parking sensors, rear camera, and a few other things that get bundled in when you add some of those items. It will be delivered in May and by some weird alchemy of automotive marketing will be the MY2018 model.

Great spec Peter. I hope it will be everything you want it to be.

The MY 2018 configurator is now available on the Jaguar site (every year the MY seems to advance another month into the preceding year!?!)
They seem to have removed the British Racing Green option!?! I hope this does not cause me problem with my car.
Very interestingly they have released a new 240PS twin turbo version of the 2 litre diesel engine. I am very tempted to ask for a change but I think I will resist. Curiously the fuel economy is better than the 180PS model.
Ingenium 2.0 4 cylinder 240PS Twin Turbocharged Diesel All Wheel Drive (Automatic)
0-60mph in 5.6 seconds Top Speed: 155mph Carbon Dioxide Emissions: 137g/km Urban Fuel Economy: 44.1mpg Extra Urban Fuel Economy: 62.8mpg Combined Fuel Economy: 54.4mpg
All figures quoted are with Start/Stop system
Available with Prestige, R-Sport and Portfolio

Yes, that new twin-turbo looks pretty good. I imagine it will be pretty good in the full-size Disco too. You might think that a car like that needs a V6, but if you go back to the Disco 3 which had a 187bhp 2.7 V6 and this is 240bhp in a lighter body....

I'm also interested in how good the new Ingenium petrols are too.
