I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem, on my ali, Rad, on my Roadster I had a small leak from the drain plug and when I went under the car to tighten it the plastic drain plug broke in two with half the plug still in the Rad, I will now remove the Rad, and drill out the old plastic plug, has anyone any ideas what to replace the plastic plug with ?

Its an M10 x 1.5 thread

Mine uses a standard metric hex steel zinc plated bolt with copper washer. When it was new I coated it in PTFE grease before assembling. I took it out recently when I drained down to try a different stat and it was still bright with no sign of corrosion.

Have heard of a number of catastrophic radiator failures when plastic fittings fail.

It seems the all aluminium option is best.

I should have said, I use an M10 bolt with a reusable dowty washer, and not the plastic fitting
