Because the owner brought it to me and asked if I could weld the hub up and re-machine it for him.
I'd been warned about it by the foreman at our local agri engineers, a man with many years experience in correcting fitters mistakes

Helpful though many of the tips are here , the original poster has a BTR axle , not a Salisbury 7HA . Although there are similarities , it is important that he follows instructions for the former , not the latter.

My axle referred to on this thread is a Salisbury.
