Its very wet outside - so no Mogging today. But it got me thinking about the old mans cars. They were mainly Morris Vans when I was a kid - but he did have an Austin 1100 followed by a Ford Zodiac Estate - and even a Triumph GT 6 - which to our embarrassment he crashed and wrote off To add to the blushes in later life he had a Yugo Which cars do you recall??

Funnily enough, I think the cars my Dad loved the most were the ones my Mum hated the most.
1928 Rolls Royce 20HP Woody shooting break and an Alvis TC21/100 Grey Lady.
Giles. Mogless in Paris.

My dad never had a car, nor a driving license but in WW2 he was a centurian tank driver!! He came out of the army and never drove again. Mum also never drove. So we (4 of us siblings) got very used to public transport until old enough to drive (bikes and cars)

My dad liked his Rover 3500 P6 - he had two of them
He also liked his Daimler Double Six which he had briefly after his chairman resigned in the 70's but he still talks about seeing the fuel gauge visibly move lower on the motorway so his company sold it pretty quickly
although when I ask him his fondest memory was his Sunbeam Alpine but that was before I was born when my parents were just married
My mum rather liked her Honda Civic in the 70's

"Fanny". His well loved Morris Cowley which was an ex police car from Bradford. My Roadster has the nearest I could get to his registration number. Sadly he died just before taking up the Vice Chancellorship of Exeter University when he was going to treat himself to a Jag Mk2.

Dad loved his 1973 Ford Consul (JOK89L - must be long gone) and the 1964 Wolseley 16/60 (292 KUO - went to a scrapper in Sussex having failed on its last journey to see my grand-father - the Consul was due for delivery 2 weeks later).
He hated the early Mini Van they had on the farm (he said the gearbox would change itself by the time they got rid of it - 6 gearboxes under warranty).
He also quite liked the Series 1 Land-Rover they had on the farm (76 KDV - sadly not around any more) which was the first road vehicle I drove.

and even a Triumph GT 6 - which to our embarrassment he crashed and wrote off Snap! I loved that little car, it rolled over on the A3 if I remember right. I think that it was preceded by a Vanden Plas Princess 3 litre and before that there was an Austin Westminster.

Great thread - fascinating reading.
My Dad had a Berkeley 3-wheeler then a TR3a when he got married and gave up his beloved Norton. Then, when I came along, the sports cars were replaced with a downward spiral of Riley Elf, Renault 6, Fiat Strada (x2) & Mini Metro (x2). The second Metro was such a sh*tbox that I made him get rid and I bought him a VW Polo which is still going strong after 18 years!
