A completely transformed Morgan Roadster after spending a week with me in the detailing bay.

Firstly, all areas of the car were cleaned and decontaminated (tar, industrial fallout, tree sap etc. removed), then brought inside where it was dried and inspected.

All deeper scratches were wet-sanded to reduce them, or get rid of them completely. 1500/2000 grit was used first, then refined with 3000 grit, then polished out. The paint depth was regularly measured during this process to ensure the paint didn't get sanded through!

All paintwork then received a 2-stage machine polish. First stage with an aggressive compound to remove any sanding marks and swirl marks, then a finishing polish to remove the slight marring left by the heavy compound and boost the gloss.

Auto Finesse Illusion wax was then used to give the car that little extra shine, as well as some protection from the elements for a few months.

All chrome/stainless pieces were polished and protected.

All interior surfaces were cleaned, and all leather conditioned to keep it nice and soft.

For any detailing enquiries, please email - ashley@williamsautomobiles.com, call - 01454 315112, or pop in for a chat.

More pictures of this car can be found on the Williams Automobiles Facebook Page.

Very bad swirl marks!

Right is before machine polishing, left is after

Good job on that one Ashley, dark colours look amazing... but after 2 careful washes, mine has started to get swirls in again! I am thinking of adding some paint protection.. any advise?

Ceramic paint coatings are the way forward! Lasts up to 5 years, scratch resistant, chemical resistant, and leaves a better finish than pretty much all waxes. Definitely worth having all of the swirls removed before applying though, as once it's on, you won't be able to polish the car (not that you'd need too).

OK, very nice. But I thought this type of post by a dealer was outside the way TM is operated.

+1. Though there is in the article support on how to improve your car. One for the moderators I guess.

Sorry if I've broken the rules! I put the pictures up as more as a demonstration of what can be done, rather than just advertising.

Well you haven't mentioned costs or offered TMers a discount 😉......so you haven't broken the rules really!

Seems more like an interesting article with the option of advice as opposed to an advert to me.

Thanks for demonstrating what can be achieved and how.
