.......to find that both wing mirrors have rusted badly whilst within the weather cover (that has 2 little pockets for the wing mirrors). So i need to replace them?
What would you folks recommend? a full unit replacement or just the stalks/mirrors.
I can definitely recommend Phoenix Design's (morgan hoods) round mirrors on the stainless stalks Ken - they work a treat

Go for the whole thing Ken. The stainless stalks are fantastic. These are standard size mirrors from Heart of England Morgan.  Two size of mirror available. These are the larger size:

Heart of England for me. I put them on the Roadster and forgot they weren't Morgan's own......until I bought the 4/4! Just need 400 miles to first service, after which it'll be spring and the mirrors will become more necessary. I hope!

Bumped up in case anyone wants to make the standard mirrors work.
I elongated the hole In the mirror back and buffed the face of the mounting post to allow more movement, worked great since.

Thanks Ewn. I’m glad you explained what you had done as I couldn’t tell from pictures (although others obviously could  ) Think I’ll take the easy option out though

I think away back then, there had been a discussion on the trad section about how useless the mirrors were and at the time, I didn’t know how to post picture into those sections, hence the lack of description on this thread early on.

One day, when I grow up to be a big boy, I will ask 13 year old nephew Sam to talk me through the process of saving/adding pictures to threads. Until then I shall continue to sellotape polaroids to the phone screen. ‘Snot my fault no one else can see them. Not yet suited to this modern world... 😔

HB That reminds me of my late Mother In Law.. I asked her why there were loads of bits of paper sellotaped to her mobile phone. “Oh, that’s peoples numbers so I can call them if I’m out” she says.
