Hi fellow enthusiasts! Got hold of one of those shiny Williams header tanks a while back - made space for it to go but plumbing something of a challenge! Anyone ever fitted to a Plus 8 ('96 Hotwire model)? Appreciated as always. Kevin

Hi, I haven't heard of anybody fitting one to a Plus 8. The only fitted one I know of is Jays on his Roadster, he tried to fit it but also hit plumbing problems and the car went back to Williams to be fitted if I remember correctly- this bling has a price it seems wink . It looked splendid once installed, there are pictures on here somewhere.
Best to give them an email or call I would think they are aware it's not a simple replacement it seems.
Good luck.

Richard....As a result of my struggles in fitting it, Williams redesigned the hose connections with correct angles. It then went straight on!

Thanks John - I knew there were problems that shouldn't have been at the time.

This will be a start again on a Classic Plus 8 I imagine for our friend in Japan.

Thanks very much indeed gents. If I'm successful installing I'll post the results here.

Whereas Jay's solution may look very nice (make that superb), it doesn't perform any differently to the "standard" MGB (or similar) overflow bottle that most owners use.

They are mounted on the bulkhead in a similar place and quite easy to plumb in. If you want bling under the bonnet then this is an admirable solution, but there are much cheaper ways of achieving the same functionality.

Finding the old brass ones is getting harder Andy. I fitted the one from my old Range Rover (after it was converted to diesel) to RTA.
Half the black paint was missing, I managed to remove a lot more, but it still had some black.
As Bill Button said at the time - Don't polish it, it will fail (from his Navy Days grin2 ).

I did think of fitting one on the Healey but not sure if it's worth doing. The water in the rad finds its own level and stays there, haven't needed to top it up yet so why is it necessary?

If the car doesn't lose much in the way of coolant then there's no need for a recovery tank. They are useful if you can't be bothered to check the level and top it up occasionally.
