Nice. I wonder if that's standard for dealers all over. When speaking with the guy I'm gonna order from he said 5k down then the remainder at whatever the going rate is a week before delivery. Didn't realize some of em out there allowed lock in at whatever the rate of the day was if you're paying early.

Any elation over the current exchange rate situation from the yank side of the pond is temporary I'm sure. Been on the other side of the currency valuation equation previously, and I certainly feel your pain. Any changes in the economic balance (and tax code) always have winners and looser. I suspect the exporters from the UK are having a field day, as long as the raw material doesn't have to be imported. On the other hand, exports from the US are expensive right now, which is impacting some businesses over here.

In any event, one thing that is certain (IMHO)is that the folks currently in power will surely screw it up "biggly"!

Hey was not taken that way, FX issues are gratefully received at anytime by anyone, I'm just hoping it works for me one day!

You can prepay your dealer as much as you want and they can prepay Morgan UK whenever you want them to at whatever the going rate is at that time. So if you're making the big purchase, might as well give your dealer a big chunk to hold and then when you see the rate very low, just have them make the wire transfer to the UK. This way you'll get a great rate instead of whatever it is at the time it leaves the factory which could be higher. (Or could be lower. That's the gamble).

I realized I never updated the thread on my experience with buying. I had already ordered and asked about when I could pay the dealer in order to lock in the lower rate after brexit. They said that they had paid MMC in full when I put in the order. I said ok, and asked if they could send me something written showing me that. They refused. I did the math, and I ended up still losing money if I canceled and went to another dealer even with the difference in exchange rate, so I didn't cancel.

The final steps of the purchasing had some circumstances that make me believe that they probably told the truth. I set up delivery and gave them the information to get the money from USAA who gave me the loan. They delivered the car. Then I heard back from the dealer that there was an issue with the loan, it was an auto loan not a motorcycle loan, and USAA wouldn't cut them the check. Worked it out with USAA, but I had driven the M3W for a week before the dealer had been paid(more than just the 5K deposit). Other people have said theirs wasn't released by MMC from storage until they had paid.

Why the dealer wouldn't give me some paperwork to show me they had paid when they said is beyond me. I guess it's still possible that they paid at a different time than they said, but that's a big gamble to hope I just didn't cancel the order. A lot of people would have cancelled out of principal even if it cost them money. I would have given a strong recommendation for the dealer had they just given me something. Everything else about dealing with them went very well.

Wow, that is totally different than how my dealer handled things.
When he wrote up my invoice he used whatever the worst exchange rate was from the previous 12 months. ($1.56 = 1 Pound Sterling)
When I put my deposit down in January of 2016 it was converted at that days exchange rate ($27000@1.41 + 18900 Pounds Sterling.
The day after Brexit I made another payment ($15000@1.38 = 10950 Pounds Sterling) And then the final payments with all the taxes title and delivery charges @1.35. Your way is more predictable as far as rate changes. I have to admit I watched the Brexit vote with white knuckles because it could have gotten very expensive for me.

Just been reading a long range forecast. Predictions are that it will rise to 1.66 later in the year.
But its just a prediction.
