My plus 4 had all the wiring behind the radio blanking plate, simply plug and play, the speaker wiring was in the panels just in front of the door restrictor straps, feel the carpet and you will find the round holes beneath, you can carefully cut the carpet and then plug in the speakers and fit.

Thanks, that sounds very helpful. So effectively you are suggesting all the cars get the wiring loom but just not the speakers which the carpet needs to be cut to fit to house. Then it's head unit in and connect the ISO connectors. Just the aerial to fit after that, I will have to study google images to see where the aerial is mounted.
Cheers, Giles

Yes Giles, just remove the blanking plate, if the connectors are tucked in at the back, easy job, I did not bother with the aerial, I bought a head unit with USB/Bluetooth so I could listen to music from a memory stick or stream via Bluetooth.

Yep, that's mine! They said they would fit the roof to 'stretch it out', was that fitted?
The brown leather works well with the blue and brown bonnet straps, love it!
I'll see how I get on with the headunit, I won't bother with an aerial.
Cheers, Giles

Hi Giles
That was very brave, buying without trying.
If you fit a radio make sure you get one that has a remote control. The radio is very difficult to operate without one even for the passenger, due to the standard position deep under the dashboard.
I have one fitted with a remote and it is a great addition to the car.
Also it might be worth asking the dealer about it before you pick the car up.

Hi Giles
No it wasn't fitted while I was there, total agree about getting a remote if you do get a radio/CD fitted makes life so much easier. smile

Hi Giles,
I too bought mine without so much as sitting in one, driving out the factory gates felt peculiar in the extreme, I hadn't listened to anything I'd been told and didn't know how to work the handbrake nor open the vents of the heater!
700 miles and three days later, I arrived home and read the book, now I really love the way it drives, I wouldn't change a thing.

I thought I'd ordered a stereo but apparently not, I'm glad I didn't now, I just take a Makita Bluetooth speaker now if i fancy a tune.

Yes the one I have ready to go in has a remote and is Bluetooth.
I guess I just need to know what speakers fit, I'll see that at the factory I guess.
Cheers, Giles

The standard speakers are cheap and nasty, go to a decent ICE shop and get them to fit some decent ones. The speakers are the most important part.
