Guys, I want to try to generate some funds for 'Combat Stress' off the back of this years Albert Ball blat.

My proposal is that we attempt to raise at least £50 per car through sponsorship & at Saturdays dinner with around 20 cars attending it'll be a great response and provide some real benefit to aid our current suffering servicemen & women suffering the trauma of PTSD

From their website
'Combat Stress is the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity. We treat a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety.

Mental health issues can affect ex-servicemen and women of all ages. Right now, we have more than 6,000 veterans registered with us for support. We're a vital lifeline for these veterans, and their families.

Our treatment and support services are always free of charge for veterans. We are Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered and the NHS England PTSD specialist treatment provider for veterans.

Vision Mission Values
Our vision is that veterans will be able to live free from the harmful effects of psychological injuries.

In addition - Last year we were able to lay two wreaths during the run (crash site and cemetery) which improved to be a fitting moment during the run. I intend to do the same this year.

Your support with this would be greatly appreciated

thumbs Mark.

We were going to suggest donations to the British Legion but Combat Stress is a very worthy choice instead.

Update:

We have found out that there is an official event being arranged in Annoeullin on the 7th May with some of Capt Ball's descendants attending. The organisers have asked one of our Belgian MTWC members to see if he could arrange for some Morgans to join “the festivities” and he’s in turn been in touch with us.

Details are scarce at the moment but it looks as if it will be activities in the morning at the memorial and cemetery followed by a lunch at midday.

As soon as we know more we’ll let everyone know.

Chris & Ian

Details are still scarce but Ian’s doing a sterling job of tracking down the organisers. From what we can glean so far the events in Annoeullin look something like:

09:00 – 12:00 Commemorative exhibition at Annoeullin College

This includes our Morgans together with music, speeches, the releasing of pigeons (or maybe doves?) etc.

12:00 – 14:00 Buffet lunch

14:00 - ?? Official memorial at Cemetery

I’m sure that after making the most of Sat night some of us may not be planning on getting to Annoeullin for 09:00 so I suggest 3 options for the Sunday morning:

1/ Leave early with Ian, Marie & Gerald to be in Annoeullin for 09:00.

2/ Leave around 9:30 in convoy to arrive about 11:00 at Annoeullin College (my preferred option). This should take us about 1hr 3l0 mins down the back roads.

3/ People do their own thing if they wish to visit the crash site and memorial without getting caught up in the official events.

For those heading back to the Tunnel on Sunday, from the crash site or cemetery to the tunnel it’s about 80 miles/1hr 30 mins via the A25/A16.

We expect to be joined in Annoeullin by some more 3 wheelers, some of them coming from the vintage revival meeting at Montlhery.

As part of the celebrations one of the organising teachers is planning to get the local children to draw pictures of our Morgans which will then be displayed at the event.

Would those of you coming to the main celebrations be able to send me some pictures of your M3Ws (with or without you in the pic as you prefer!) and I'll forward these onto the school.

There will also be a MTWC stand which is being organised by Ian and Marie Parkinson.

Thanks

Chris

I see the hotel is fully booked for Saturday night. In such an event I would usually just kip in the car...

Now looking in St Omer at the Bretagne (which we used last year and was pretty good) or the Ibis (which I've stayed in before and is OK, too).

Any others staying in St Omer?

I promise to get some decent pics. I doubt I'll be filming this year. I'd like to thank Ian, Chris and co for taking on the baton for this trip and managing things so well, I never imagined it would blossom into such a great event. Thank you, chaps. smile

We'd like to thank Chris and Ian for their continued development and organisation of this event certainly, and it's looking bigger and better than ever.

Never forget guys though without Rich setting up and running this last year and coming up with the idea 💡 in the first place it wouldn't be on the calendar. This years run looks fantastic.

Remember - do those exhaust bobbin checks prior to departure.

Rich I trust you'll be joining us for dinner each evening👍🍷🍷🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺😉🙄

The organisation is somewhat haphazard but Ian is slowly getting more info.

There will be a M3W stand and display of drawings of Morgans plus loads of other events at the school in the morning. There will also be other French & Belgian three wheelers joining.

We are invited to the lunch at 12 which will include Capt Ball's descendents.

At the moment we're not sure about timings or agenda for anything as the crash memorial or cemetery but hope to find out details in the next few weeks

We're aware that those returning to the uk on Sunday are going to be tight on time in the afternoon and will make sure our plans provide for this.

More news as and when we know it😀
