The Roaster does need care over speed bumps - and we do have them around here.

I have found the ideal "approach" speed - and there no probs!!

Enthusiastically?
I don't think I'd be able to keep up in racing car! grin2

The 4.6 is nice, but often the 3.9 is recommended as a good compromise on relative simplicity, economy and just plain V8 fun...
But, I have only drive 3.5s so as far as +8s go, I'll quiet

I just did a test on my 4.0 Plus 8 with Gems efi and got 31mpg.
Only a relatively small mileage though and mostly sedate driving!
It is winter after all! Car is essentially the 3.9 with some internal mods to strengthen the internals as a standard Rover upgrade at the time. mpg is not a real concern in a car doing 7k annual mileage. I have met a Plus8 owner who has a bigger John Eales prepped engine....15mpg but it sounds and goes well!

Mine was a 1978 carb model....it was difficult to get 20mpg except on a long run then i could manage 22/23.
However, who cares, it would pull away from rest uphill in 4th.
And even just ticking over it made you fall in love with it immediately. It went to Germany when I sold it.
Oh, and I used to have to disconnect the oil breather to get it through the mot........

But love is love after all......
Nick

I have just upgraded to a new 3.7 roadster ( from a 2010 v6 ) I have driven many pre owned 3.7s and taken a lot of time over the decision. i found some fundamental issues in the earlier 3.7s eg the wide gearbox tunnel which restricted leg room, the power steering ( which was so awful even dealers were recommended removing it) and the demon Rev Hang ( which for a while Morgan were content to charge £2k extra for a so called ECU upgrade ) So my advice would be to try a new 3.7 , which I have found is the best of the modern classic Morgan's . In fact it's absolutely brilliant (and my other car is a 911 )

I had to have the exhaust replaced last year and BHM fitted a straight through, it's pretty anti-social... but wow, that sound love oops

swmboloves it, which is an added bonus. thumbs

Hi,

Thanks for all the comments. From the sounds of things they are all different and each variant has positives and negatives so I'll approach it with an open mind. I'm sure the right one will pick me.
