I notice some driveline movement when releasing the clutch during hard acceleration with my 57' +4. The engine mounts were recently replaced and the Moss tranny mounts seem to be good as I don't get any movement while rocking the driveshaft. Any thoughts as to what could be causing this?

Check the the U bolts on the back axle, they are prone to snapping. Can cause all sorts of strange movement when the axle comes loose.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

U-joints are good and the axle backlash is within spec. I'll check the axle U bolts tomorrow when I can get underneath. Thanks everyone!

hi JFP we are rebuilding our 1958 plus 4 had to fit handbrake cable yesterday found soldering handbrake cable nipple didnt hold so tapped the nipple and clamped the cable with a bolt ...much better I now have issues such as the timing to consider as the new accuspark dizzy cant be timed statically ie set at tdc then advance vac advance knob half turn which is 4 degrees
so i guess i'll have to use the strobe and a running engine but set to how many degrees cause the dizzy weights will add some degrees
im guessing i need about 10 - 14 degrees advance?

Rob Won't an engine at a low idle be the same as static as the weights won't have kicked in any advance ?
