As for the original poster I would add that it could very well be the belt ratcheting, hopping a tooth, while lighting out quickly. I had this happen to me a few times in the early days but I have since stopped it as the belt runs on the looser side as well as the practice eats the rear tire quickly!

Punching it to make a point or win a quick scratch race is all well and good but I have gone through three rear tires and five sets of fronts due to hard aggressive driving. It gets expensive.

back from menders!!!! well Saturday mech says belt fine will have to investigate.....well today went to pick up ooh it was just the belt loose! Drive home all ok CONFUSED .COM

Got down under! the belt like a bow string never been that tight ! i fear for the BB bearings..... has some free play but jeepers, will have to have a feel of another to compare. can't twist 20 deg let alone 90. must be ok because its adjusted by dealer!!!! i'll stop wittering on now........ oops

Of course, if the BB is being re-engineered per the other post then you might not care about the longevity of the current unit's bearings.
On the other hand I suspect tightening the belt was easier than Phil's solution... wink

All seems good no banging anymore. BB still howling as normal. should all be good (P.M.A.) drive
