Another good one that's readily available in the USA and probably available elsewhere is Plexus Plastic Cleaner Protectant Polish. Originally developed for use in the aviation industry and has good reviews.

And just to add a very cheap and readily available alternative......Bikers, when cleaning plastic visors often use toothpaste....start with lots of water in the mix just to be sure but there is no way it should scratch. I once caught my visor on a hotel door frame and there was even paint transferred onto it, all cleaned off with a few minutes with toothpaste and tissue paper (loo roll).

I have used a very fine Autofinesse polish. Last year I polished the sidescreen windows with Autofiness fine polish as used for the final buffing of the paint. It did a good job.
Some of the "whitening" toothpastes are ok too. Very fine polishing effect.
A paste made from Sodium bicarbonate is handy. Again a fine polish effect. Good for tea stains inside mugs!
It brings back memories of preparing metal samples for microscope viewing. We usually finished them with 10micron diamond paste on polishing wheels. Softer metals were tougher to polush than hard in many cases.

Toothpaste is also really helpful for cleaning glasses (spectacles) - polishes surface marks off without being abrasive enough to change the optical qualities of the prescription lenses!

Just as an aside, when i drop my soft top i place a soft towel where the 2 faces of the rear plastic window would otherwise contact as the hood folds. After several years of putting up with a scratch line across the centre of the window on various drop tops this seems to help prevent the problem.

Are there any products which will remove or at least improve scratches in the clear plastic?

The hood to my car came with a nasty one.

Hi

I also used the Meguiar`s Plast RX yesterday - It worked a treat and best applied with a microfibre foam pad

Thanks to everyone that responded to my request for information.

I have an embarassment of riches in all the responses - you are a generous, knowledgeable lot!

I will start auditioning for a young slim person....!
