I'm very happy with my 4/4. Nevertheless there is one serious issue. Now I'm on my fourth pair of brake discs. The car has made ca. 44.000 km, 38.000 km I drove myself after purchasing her as a pre demonstrator with 6.000 km on the clock.

My Morgan garage was so kind to change brake discs for free as long as she was under warranty every 10.000 km.
This comfort is over now since last year summertime. They even changed brake pads for free against green stuff pads which show excellent performance on it's own regarding brake feel and brake power.

But unfortunately all the help is only lasting for a relative short period of time and the wavy discs issue appears again after ca. 8.000 km of driving. The Morgan garage also changed a hub under warranty because one disc was not very well centered on one side. Anyway all the efforts seem to be a workaround only.

She is my fifths Mog but my first one riding with so narrow tyres, no other Mog had this issue. Could the problem be caused by the narrow tyres? Just a thought that they perhaps wobble much stronger than a wider tyre which rotates straight ahead and will not conflict the brake disc because of a better and calmer leading?

The issue is so strong that if you brake from e.g. 110 km/h to 60 km/h when reaching 80 km/h you feel the wavy disc so enormously strong that you would like to stop braking...if the situation would allow.

I'm quite surprised Heinz at your wear rates. I covered 24,000 miles in my 4/4 Sport and had the standard pads, I replaced them at 17,000 miles as one inner pad delaminated from the steel backing plate. I never needed to replace discs.
I never experienced any wobbling due to the disc being out of true.

My two pennyworth says that Green Stuff are too aggressive for the original discs and that you need to fit uprated grooved discs maybe for a little extra cooling, it sounds like the OE one's are cooking?

You may be right regarding the aggressiveness of the green pads but they were installed with the last change of discs first. So three changes of discs have been done still using the standard pads. I have no clue and my drive behavior is sporty but not abusive...

This is the first time I have read this on the forum, I misread your first message I thought you had had the Green pads for most of the time.

Sorry for that Richard, it was not described clearly but I'm really confused regarding the discs.

That was my fault not reading it correctly Heinz, had your dealer any previous experience from other 4/4's having the same issue I wonder.

Hopefully someone will come along with some more information on the problem on here soon.

Heinz, Firstly, belated birthday wishes for earlier on in the week.

I also have brake issues, my 2011 +4 has done 11,000km and when you brake reasonably hard from 100kmh+ there is a strong shudder in the front end and I have to release the brakes and reapply with less pressure. It only happens at the higher speed, driving around the streets at 50 - 60kmh there seems to be no issue.

I have yet to remove the wheels and check if the problem is obvious (Pads, discs)or if there is another issue. Tyres are good, and not narrow tyres.

Richard regarding your last question it was a bit ambivalent talking with the Morgan garage.
On one hand they claimed now to mount pre used discs which had been smoothed after first use to install them again with the goal of a longer lasting good behave due to material stabilisation which could mean the problem is known and common. (but it did not help in my case).
On the other hand they accused me a bit and were asking if 1) I drive like Rambo or 2) if I make a car wash and then drive her wet into the garage (which I don't do). Their theory is that in this case between the brake pad and the disc some water could be stored and softens the disc at this area causing the wobble because the disc widens.

Cant believe water softens steel disks, rust yes.

Heinz, if it helps, I don't use a car wash for my car and the temperature in Australia is well over 25 degrees even up to 40 Degrees and the car never goes away wet.

Regardless of how you drive, you should be able to stop hard from normal road speeds 100kmh + without issue
