Me too but then the rest of the car restored my faith in Morgan.

The MX5 is a masterpiece of engineering. Quick and easy to use and 100% waterproof.

There was speculation on TM a few years ago as to why Steve Morris drove an MX5, and the assumption/hope was that it was so that MMC could learn how to make a brilliant convertible roof.

We may have been wrong about that.

When I worked at Kraft we bought a French artisanal cheese maker.
It didn't affect the processed plastic we made but it did provide a benchmark of excellence we weren't allowed to obtain by the bean counters.

In actual fact Mr M didn't, doesn't and isn't going to drive an MX-5. It was a comedic interruption on the TM day at the factory by someone who knows him very well as I recall..the rest is folklore posing as 'The Truth As It's on the Internet'

There's no doubt the MX-5 hood is a masterpiece, but one only has to look at the windscreen design to see why it would never work on a Morgan, it's a massive piece of engineering in comparison to our flat sheets of glass with a tiny frame.

You would lose the wonderful lightness and simplicity of the trad windscreen. It would probably be ok with an Aero, though.

While driving in NZ in My Sister In Law's Miata I also pondered whether it could be adapted to a Trad. The offcenter clamps really put a force on the windscreen to pull the hood tight. But, I wonder, when clamped does the hood mechanism help support the windscreen. I was thinking of buying a junked Miata hood with mechanism and seeing if I could adapt it to MY +8 Bitsa. Another Winter project. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
