Hi Folks,
Just driven my (or any for that matter) Morgan 4/4 for the first time.
The executive summary is: fabulous!

I was quite worried about stories of hard suspension and being brave to buy before I drive.... but the worries are unfounded and the car feels lovely. Much more compliment than I had imagined.
The exhaust note is very charismatic, performance is lively, and it all feels rather special.

My initial observation is that you have to get quite close to the steering wheel to reach the throttle. Have most of you got a longer right leg from stretching?!
The old style hood looks lovely but getting those header rail fixings undone isn't easy, there must be a knack which I'm hoping some kind soul will teach me.
Roof is off, half tonneau is on as is the flat cap! 😂

On the hood fastenings there is a small dot on the side you lift up first .

Not to worry. I bought my first Morgan, without having ever driven one. Also, a 4/4. Now I have 6.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Morgan ownership, and congratulations on selecting a 4/4, which as everyone knows/is happy to debate endlessly is the finest of all Morgans.

Apart from the Lift-a-dot fasteners, remember to undo the rear fittings first before the front when removing the hood, and fit the front fixings first before the rear when mounting the hood.

If your hood is a bit tight (vinyl hoods in cold weather are especially prone to this) there's a chap called John Taylor (www.morganhoods.com) who makes excellent swivel fittings that make the whole process of fitting a trad hood dead easy. You will also want to buy one of his storm covers, they are truly excellent.

As I have the 80th edition it comes with a blue mohair old style hood.
I have spoken to the chap who sells the storm covers, looks like a good idea. Before I buy the swivels people rave about, I want to try out the standard fitting.
If I did buy a swivel kit is it plug and play or are there bolts to cut and other mods to make?

They are a straight replacement for the existing fittings. 3 screws on each side, no need to drill any new holes or do anything destructive, so you can put it back to standard any time you like.

Good thinking about trying it first, though, especially with a mohair hood, they aren't anywhere near as prone to shrinkage as the vinyl (aka Everflex or Ambla) versions.

Can highly recommend Swivels ...had them on my 4/4 makes putting the hood up..easy peesy!
