A replacement auto box is about £8,000 plus vat. I would expect the manual to be a little less.
I would think not too difficult a conversion as the gearbox tunnel on auto cars is wider. Going manual to auto not practical due to the narrow gearbox tunnel on manual cars.
Would keep the auto box in storage so it could always be converted back 😀

If, done by Morgan, the full transformation package would be below 15k, I'd be really tempted as well.

If going from an Auto to Manual Aero - don't put the BMW unit in. Put either a Drenth G400 or Quaife G69 box in. Both do BMW V8 fitment and will have much much better ratio's and shift characteristics.

Hi L33, An interesting post to Ale and me and I'll comment in reverse order, as although I've sat in a Noble M600 I've never driven one. Interesting that you bought one, I won't ask for your experience as it must have been a disappointment and a DG is probably not the place to discuss it! Whilst I love Lee Noble's work on chassis' and suspension's, I'm not sure the M600 would have been developed in the same way if he'd been involved to the conclusion. No doubt you've got a closer relationship with the current Noble marque, but I was disappointed he was not able to develop another model to follow on from the M400 and have it built in South Africa as reported. Nobody seems to know what has happened to Lee Noble and whilst he could be difficult, there's no doubt he was a brilliant engineer and it's a shame we did not see another car from him. I was surprised that you found the McLaren boring to drive, the performance of the 650S is very similar to the M600, the best steering this side of a Lotus and just amazing ride and handling. I ordered the new 720S before going to Geneva for the Motor Show and look forward to getting it before the end of the year - as it's not one of the introductory specced models. Regarding TVR I find your comments interesting and those of your friends with deposits paid on the new car, I always thought they would build the new model, but doubted that they can do it for "TVR money". New factory's, Cosworth breathed-on crate engine, Gordon Murray input, etc, etc, all this does not come cheap. Now it seems that you cast doubt on its very viability. Lastly, have you thought of buying a new Plus 8 - this one has a manual gearbox and the new suspension mods and may give you the hands-on wind in the hair driving experience you're looking for? Bon chance in your search for your next car, do keep us informed on your final decision.

[ I don't think you're missing much. The bag is actually canvas and not leather as I initially thought. It contains a wheelbrace and a jack - not much use in a car without a spare wheel My guess is that it may have been added along the way and never came with the car in the first place??? My new (ish) Aero +8 didn't come with a jack. Would you let me know who makes that jack and what the model is? I might try and buy one. Thanks....

It's just a very generic "Kennedy" jack. Being as the car doesn't have a spare wheel (unless I've not found it yet), I don't think the car actually came with the jack but rather has found its way into the boot via a previous owner.

Hi Aeroman, The M600 was anything but a disappointment - it was the best car I've owned by a mile. Sadly it transpired to be a prototype (Reg M600 RHD - was grey with red wheels but since resprayed blue -search on Google) I wasn't happy about this and the factory offered me my money back - which I accepted and now deeply regret. I dealt directly with the MD of Noble Automotive - Mr Peter Boutwood - who is a gentleman and quite rightly very proud of the product he has developed. I can't speak highly enough of the company but at circa £300k the M600 is a very expensive car although it does offer a truly exclusive & analogue experience like no other. The McLaren 12C / 650s are very capable cars but lack of noise and too many electronic aids spoil it for me. Its almost too safe and you'd have to be doing prison sentence speeds to get the thrill of taming the beast under the bonnet. Its disappointing that TVR don't have a finished car yet but also reassuring that they want to get it right. I'm sure it'll be an awesome car when it comes out. Sadly I've never been a fan of the plus 8 styling. Everyone I speak to that's driven one (I haven't) says they're an absolute hoot and hugely rewarding to drive - I guess being 40 I'm just not old enough for one yet? I'll keep you updated when / if I sell the Aero.
