Dear All
Does anyone have an idea why the horn on my 1997 4/4 stopped working, used it today as someone pulled out in front of me, worked at first but now does not.
Any ideas gratefully received.

Could be several reasons - fuse, horn itself, poor wiring connection, switch - all that just for starters... smile

Split the fault in half. Try for voltage at the horn terminals.

Mine just stopped working a couple of years ago so swapped it out for a new one and it then worked fine - I think the old one had just corroded or given up

I swapped all my fuses for those ones that light up if broken so I knew it wasn't the fuse

It's just a simple cheap snail horn under the front grill with soldered spade connectors

Oh and when you swap it out don't do what I did and wonder for ages why the new one wouldn't work - I had the steering boss off and was looking for problems in the wiring

Then I realised the Morgan horn only works with the ignition on doh

Depends on age of car Stewart. Mine works at all times.
Can be frustrating when fiddling with the occasionally stuck ignition key from outside the car! smile
Still, nothing like waking the neighbours in early morning grin2

The points in the horn become furred up creating a high resistance you can bugger about with them, but for what they cost I would just change them

Turned out the problem was that sometime someone fitted a non standard horn which had a fuse hidden away near the battery for some reason; still only cost me £13 to get the local garage to trace and rectify.

I have suffered from the dreaded flooded horn a few times; especially after a decent run in the pouring rain.
Depress the horn button and the result is a gurgling croak.

Eventually it clears; but attempts to stop it from happening, by rotating the horn on the mount, have failed.
