Here is an image of the Mogvette rear suspension. The strengthening brace for the upper shock mount is clearly seen behind the leading arm. The lower mounting also differs from the standard factory mounting. Harald

Not quite doom and gloom.....
The Morgan hoop kit retains the oem leaf springs and the main spring device and only adds dampers which are generally used in soft mode. This is well tried and tested and is currently employed on all new trads.
It's the use of coil springs as a significant or essentially replacement primary spring device. That introduces different stresses the hoop was not originally intended for.
If you intend keeping the oem springs then the hoop is fine... There are several race v8's that have ford IRS back axel conversion although this is fitted at construction..... Chas Winderage at MogSport I think built these. What is OEM ? original equipment Morgan? maybe.... Also thanks for reassuring me in my choice of update to my rear. Peter

Close - Original Equipment Manufacture(r) - or "as it came from the factory." Some interesting thoughts to digest...

The image was a link to emog, so it is visible only if you log in there. I put a copy in the gallery, so now it should be visible to everyone. Harald

Thanks Harald for the pics,Interesting. I have to agree with keeping the original spring system. The factory are supplying 4 leaf replacement for 2 seaters same price as original 5. If these leafs are thicker and stronger than originals they may give better ride and handling.
The Aust. Army replaced all the multileaf packs on the series 3 landrovers with thicker 2 leafs springs. This gave better ride plus 30cwt capacity for towing field guns.
