Looked to me like the Pug driver was more interested in showing the Mog driver he was in the wrong than attempting to avoid a colllission by braking.

We have all experienced the aggressive, indignant tail gators - this one had split seconds unfortunately.

Easter Sunday is the traditional day for a family get together in Italy. Given that, plus usually pleasant weather the roads can be a nightmare. I don't like simply going for a run in the Mog under such circumstances and there are always weekend warriors that pass at warp velocity on roads that actually have a 50 kph limit. Two of them managed to have a head-on a few kilometres from here with unfortunate fatal results for one of them yesterday.

Easter Monday is another traditional family get together but usually instead of dinners at restaurants our at grandma's it is the day for a picnic or a barbecue. Again crazy traffic! I thought I would go out for a sail this afternoon but with the wind blowing at over 30 knots out on the lake and a wind warning posted I opted not to go out frown

So yes, perhaps I am going stir crazy gloomy ranting juggle

Tomorrow I am going for a run in the Mog as the wind warning is still out. drive

We left Como on Saturday and it had become quite busy on the roads we were on. One trip up to Belaggio was worse than the Amalfi coastal road with tourists and frustrated locals. It turns out that driving a right hand drive car makes it easier to judge the roads as you are _close_ to the edge in the narrow bits.

1. In my defence re the Audi comment ! I was commenting on the Audi going the other way near the start of the clip which looks like it is about to try and do the same thing. Mounting the car in front and push past. I lost something in the edit re the comment - sorry.

2. They do all look the same as you say. They are also mostly black or silver, and perhaps now white.

I can see why you chose to live there Peter. It is quite stunning.

I'd not really call the Pug a tailgater.....he....or was it a she....didn't have much time to tailgate!

She must be going down a very narrow street, because unless I'm very much mistaken that's an Alley gator

I can confirm the wind warning prediction. Gusts of up to 90kph or about 50 knots (gale force) winds out on the lake at the moment. It could well get stronger during the afternoon.

I certainly wouldn't want to be out there in a small boat.

I wonder if the Mog driver actually saw the pug. Whilst no excuse, some years ago I had an accident entering a round about. Despite seeing a car to my left entering the round about indicating right & two cars side by side to my right ( duel carriage way)stationary awaiting the right turning car. I still got hit and to this day have no idea where the car came from that hit me as I pulled across from stationary ,to go around the round about, to turn right. My fault & made a bit of a mess of the MGBGT.

I have put it down to the blind spot on the retina where the optic nerve is attached, which your brain fills in with what it expects. It taught me a lesson in doing a double take at all junctions.

Good point Icepack.

http://www.slobc.org/safety/documents/road-survival-guide.pdf

Since reading this I've changed my approach to roundabouts and junctions (page 6) and endeavour to change speed, look twice and focus on 3 separate points.

I found this last year and put a topic up.
http://www.londoncyclist.co.uk/raf-pilot-teach-cyclists/
A great insight into what we see and don't see!
A few weeks back I watched a video on F1. I think it was Hulkenberg driving with a camera picking up his eye movements to show where he was looking as he drove. Similar to the military style eye sensor for targeting that military pilots have.
