Graham, agreed we went to look for America out side the cities and it has it in spades.
I am still trying to finish on the road. #2 son bought it for #3 son & I to read before the trip. Bloody hard work.

Kerouac's characters meander about not over route 66 totally and generally from NY to LA via Denver. It isn't frankly the easiest read. Better off with Robert M Pirsig.
