Planning a trip around the Swiss passes and Route Napoleon. Does anyone have any experience re. ground clearance with the Aero 8 series 5 on tight hairpins? also, getting it on the tunnel train upper deck?

I've grounded cars that are higher than the Morgan. Book yourself into the 'high sided vehicles' carriage' (with the lorries and busses). This is single deck and much wider too.

Assuming this to be the Eurotunnel train ?
We just went backwards and forward recently on the lower deck in the Aero Coupe which should be the same 4.8L exposed sump as your S5. No concerns re the grounding, more concerned over the rims on the edges of the carriage. We did some amazing places on the way up and down if you are interested.
CHÂTEAU D'ÉTOGES - Epernay Relais & Châteaux L'Assiette Champenoise, Tinqueux, Reims Both have amazing hotels and even more amazing food.
Put the address for Borghi in Milan in your sat-nav in case anything burps. If you are going that far down Lake Como is beautiful but the roads are thin and seem to have a random surfacing element!
Tight hairpins. Rear wheel steering is available on mine based on experience. Manual hold on second or third seems to enable it.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Lower deck is fine (narrow) but fine. But it was the upper deck he asked about - which in my experience is most definitely not fine for low hanging engine vegetables. It's the hump at the end of the ramp which is very severe.

Thanks Alistair, going down as far as Stresa but will make note of Borghi ant the hotels around Reims. Did you get through the tyres using rear wheel steer?

Interested in the wolf sump plate but how do folks feel about the mounting to the bottom of the cylinder block. Could this arrongement cause issues with the engine mounts?

Tunnel staff are from my experience very good at judging that you won't get up to the upper level. I've never been sent up top in the aero.
It is narrow and you run the risk of curbing the wheels if you're running on Aeromax wheels.
Never had and issues on the passes including Route Napoleon.
Are you off to the Swiss Morgan meeting in Stresa?
