Hi, I'm new to this forum, so I hope I get this right. I own a +8 from 1998. Bought it in september 2016. Now the car has developed a weird fault. When driving along the horn signal goes on randomly. As I understand it the electrics work in such way, that the horn goes on when the horn get contact to earth. So I suspect some earting fault somewhere. Have not found it yet. Have anyone here experienced anything similar? As a side thing, I wonder if there is any chance the the fault is in the horn push itself. Took the steering wheel of today, but did not understand how to get the horn push off. Does anyone here know? This is how the steering column looks with the steering wheel removed. Photobucket

The horn push is inside the bit with the mog badge on it. It should lever out. The power goes there so I suspect a short there that is your fault.

OK, so using av suitable lever, it should just come out. That's good news. If this one is faulty. It is possible to get a replacement from Morgan?

Bjorn, the picture appears to show a Motolita horn push, try Motolita in the UK for a replacement.

Try a non scratching tool like a lollipop stick the middle bit should pop out.

Hej Bjorn
Just grip the horn button assembly and pull towards you, it's just a push fit and held in place by a large rubber 'O' ring.
It may not be the button itself at fault, when you remove the button you often find the wire is unplugged from the terminal and is resting on the metal hub and randomly contacting causing the fault you describe.
Which part of Sweden are you in? I have many happy memories of southern Sweden as I spent one week a month in Gothenburg for many years (I worked for Volvo Cars).

Thank you for your tips, everyone.
I have spent some time in the garage today. After a little persuation, the horn button came off. The investigation this far has shown that the problem seems to get worse when the button is assembled. But it does not dissapear completely.
I'm not good at fixing cars, so digging deep into the electrical system is not really something I want to do. For the moment I'm trying to elliminate different sources. Last thing I did today was to replace the horns themselves and took the car for a spin without the horn button. No random horns this time. I'm thinking about replacing the horn button. Even if I can't really verify that it is faulty. To be sure that the button is not the problem.
An as an answer to Spanner Juggler: I live in Södertälje, just south of Stockholm
