Hello to everyone from a new boy and HELP. I say new boy and although I’m new to TalkMorgan I have owned a Morgan for over 40 years. On retiring I decided to get rid of my old +8 and purchase something a little softer to the bones namely an Aero 8 Mk II. I am very please with the extra comfort but have a couple of problems I hope I can sort out with a bit of help from TalkMorgan. Firstly the nearside window does not drop the half an inch as the drivers one does when you open the door and likewise it does not go up that amount as you close the door to seal with the hood. Secondly I just cannot get the Cruise Control to work. I have pushed and released, pulled and released, pressed the little button on the stalk, all with no effect. Beginning to miss my old classic Mog already if anything went wrong you could normally get to grips with it yourself. Has anyone got any ideas please before I’m forced to take her to a garage.

Welcome to Talk Morgan, Mr. Sheen and congratulations on your latest Morgan! The window sounds like you made need to reset it - here is a topic on how to reset the side windows on a Morgan Aero 8 . As for the cruise, I don't think I've ever used mine, so I'll have to wait for someone else to come along and explain the process (if not, I'll dig out the owners manual and try to explain it).

Window drop is a common one - just need to go through the reset procedure. Can't remember what it is myself, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who will know.
As for the cruise control the detail should be in the manual?
Welcome to the forum - and remember you are the owner of a rare and valuable Series II - there aren't many around - rarer than and Aeromax...

Hi Mr Sheen and welcome. As Simon and Mr tony have said the window issue should be and easy fix. As for the cruise control the unit is out of as BMW and from memory you need to activate the system by pressing the button on the end of the stalk. Pushing the stalk forward engages the speed, pulling back dis engages. Or it might be moving the stalk up and down. Its in that sort of manner. I'm sure one of the S2 owners will be along and correct me on this. Beware though the first few times I tried the cruise in my S2 it wasn't obvious that it had worked. Now the most important issue that Simon and Mr_Tony have neglected and that is the mandatory need for you to post some pictures of you car.

Hi me again, and many thanks to Simon, Mr Tony, and Asbojohn for your quick replies. Had a look at the Mini Web Site and they have similar trouble with windows not dropping and suggest that the problem may be connected to the door interior light switch. Don’t know if its a coincidence but the interior light in only activated when the drivers door is open not the passengers door. If that is the problem is the switch in the door or the pillar. And yes in answer to your suggestions I will post some pics in the near future.

The reset procedure works I used it on my s2 with good results. Thanks for finding it Simon, not something I could manage on my blackberry.
And yes. We need pictures.

.......the problem may be connected to the door interior light switch. Don’t know if its a coincidence but the interior light in only activated when the drivers door is open not the passengers door. If that is the problem is the switch in the door or the pillar. I have exactly this problem on my S3 only in reverse ie the drivers window does not drop / no interior light. Has been diagnosed by RTC as broken switch and due to be replaced shortly. Tried to follow the directions in the manual for the cruise control in my first few weeks of ownership and as far as I could see it didn't work at all. Personally with all those horses to control I like to have the reins in my hands at all times and I really don't see how a cruise control works properly without an autobox so in my view it is a little bit of excess weight and something else to go wrong. (I'm also an ex +8 owner!!) Looking forward to your pics........

We followed the instructions in the manual and it didn't work for us either. However my OH has managed now worked out that if he fiddles with it for long enough, it works. I have a feeling there's a trick to it however we haven't worked out what yet

Thanks for all your replies regarding the nearside window not dropping and the interior light not working when you open the nearside door. I have gone through the reset procedure but it did not work. I think HOPWOOD may have hit the nail on the head with his faulty switch idea. Seems too much of a coincidence that the same switch could operate the window drop system and the interior light. Had a quick look under the door trim today just in case a wire had become loose but all seemed well. A job I fear for the garage to sort out or maybe a trip to the factory. Oh for plastic sliding windows. As for the cruise control, this I have now mastered, just dont ask me how.
