we use a "Bootbag". A waterproof zipped bag with integrated straps designed to vit on car luggage racks. I added some press studs to help keep the overlap covering the zip. It sits loqwer than a suitcase and holds plenty for long weekends. Small bags on the shelf add to carrying capacity. www.boot-bag.com
