Thanks Dave. In all honesty the variety makes it all the more interesting.

As an aside, just spoken with Henry who filled me in on a number of points. A top bloke and a true enthusiast thumbs

Hi Kenny, I can vouch for Henry, not that he needs vouching for and he only bites after a couple of pints of cider!

With regard to the storage space in the back, it would be my guess that if you took the carpet off, there could be a back board and if this is removed you will find your missing storage area, though I doubt it will be carpeted on your car as it is such an early one. I expect even Morgan didn't discover it for a while. Perhaps this will be your first upgrade then?

There will not be anything other than a void if you take off that back trim panel! The first few cars had no storage slot for side screens. As I'm sure Perry will confirm when he gets on, it was an issue with him and I believe his car was fitted with the storage slot as were a number, if not most of the later cars.

Why the slot was never considered essential to store the side screens.....like any other Sport bodied model.....is one of those MMC mysteries🙄 It's not as if the Sport luggage rack has a storage area. As SBM has stated, the number one car and Geneva show car, owned by the factory archivist Martyn Webb, was developed from the still born 4/4 Speedster prototype which having an aeroscreen, did not have sidescreens and therefore was not fitted with the storage slot!

Henry has covered the steering wheel query. However, the Brooklands wheel is effectively bespoke to Morgan. It is a Bluemels 14" wheel at the price you state, to which you have to add the central boss and horn mount and the main boss which makes it close to £600.

I have to say, I found the storage cubby below the rear deck of my Sport extremely practical and useful, particularly with the 9 stud hood, as the hood, side screens, emergency kit, cockpit cover and so on all fitted in there very tidily.

The cubby hole is a two piece plastic moulding. I did remove the insert once to tighten the Morgan Logo (as the nuts underneath had become loose). As it is a simple moulding, it should be very easy to retrofit.

The other reason I removed it was that as supplied, there was no waterproof seal between the two halves of the moulding, so it leaked water in very wet conditions. I ran a bead of silicon around the join and stuck duct tape over the top of it. Problem solved.

I should moan about it a bit to Oakmere and see what they say.

Typical Morgan issue mind you.....

I wouldn't worry too much about the storage, the odd time I've put the sides in there, they rub together and get marked. It's a case of with or without before I leave for a run for me.
I like sideless look, in fact, it looks it's best with the roof on and the sides off, the studs are especially pretty.
When it comes to the steering wheels, l like them all, mine has an ivory brooklands, I've yet to see another 80th with the same.
A couple of tips unique to the 80ths, put some leather wax on the straps, they get water marked otherwise and spray duck oil or the likes on the shiny steel hubs, they will rust if left exposed.

They rattle too!

An inexpensive solution (for those with the storage slot) is to repurpose a couple of the wheel-bags supplied with decent bicycle racing wheels. These have a zip, are slightly padded and are the right size. If you are not a bicyclist, ask a friend who is they are likely to have loads of the things left over in their constant quest for faster wheels.

Another question please.
What does this car run on? As I say fuel gauge doesn't move and when asked on our Lotus forum what the car sounds like and what exhaust is fitted I mistakenly posted this pic.

The p*ss taking has been merciless and I'm being accused of polishing inside the pipe grin2

No amount of explaining is convincing the buggers I've not touched it lol.

Are you sure that the exhaust is connected to something, it's maybe just for decoration.

Hmmm, that's a thought. I wonder if there's a speaker under there making a popping noise on the overrun. Crafty buggers grin2

Interestingly, the blue Anniversary currently for sale at Berrybrook has a standard 4/4 rear exit exhaust fitted..
