Another book update:
Yesterday I submitted the manuscript to the publishers (The Crowood Press), and so now I'm in uncharted waters.
This was a month earlier than planned, but it's as polished as I can get it. Thanks to all who chipped in - in various ways.
The end result is 50,022 words in the manuscript.
12,731 words in the captions, and 264 photographs, plus cover photos. The front cover isn't yet decided.
At least I'll get a bit more leisure time now, to get some polishing and fettling done.
I've learned a huge amount of stuff while doing this. It's amazing what we don't know.

My experience is that not knowing what I don't know stops me obsessing....

4 Steps in Training:

2) Conscious incompetence. Knowing what you don't know.
3) Conscious competence. Thinking about what you do know.
4) Unconscious competence. Not having to think while doing what you know.
