Keith, You made my day. This tools seems to be the perfect choice. Only too pleased to help. I have the version for non dished wheels and it works perfectly, no damage to spinners.

Just use a hide hammer, practice makes perfect. you also get the "feel" when it's correctly tight my car came with one of those plywood spanners. It remains untouched in the boot.

The plywood "spanners" can also split quite easily.....I went through two when I had the 4/4. I ended up using a spinner tool from MGOC Spares which worked well.

I used a hide hammer but did buy a spanner from the MG club. Used that initially with a hammer"tap" afterwards to make sure. This was for 2-eared spinners.

Jay, I also saw that tool in Ebay. No danger to scratch the spinner? Is it covered or just coated metal?
Best regards from Austria

Coated metal. It's worth putting a scrap of leather over the spinner.

Coated metal. It's worth putting a scrap of leather over the spinner. ..which brings us back to the hide hammer. Why did they invent 2-eared spinners in the first place? So you could knock them on and off with a hammer. So what on earth is wrong with using a good old Thor No 2? - Heavy enough to do the job easily - leather faced so you won't mess up the spinner - cheap as chips (£25) even if you don't replace the leather section when it wears and buy a whole new hammer instead - British made - the right tool for the job. All the other solutions in search of a problem seem to be directed at relieving gullible owners of their money.
