Just picked up my car from Williams having had their Duratec Plus 4 ECU remap done. The improvement is more than I was hoping for: the previous torque 'hole' at 3000 rpm has been filled in and there is some proper shove above 5000. It may help that I already had a modified exhaust, but I'm really pleased with the result. Definitely worth the money in my opinion.

Did your car have "gurgles" / "pops" on lift off with the modified exhaust, and if so did the remap remove the gurgle noise?

Brilliant! Enjoy thumbs

A remap also helps the torque curve on the 1.8 Duratec but well worth considering liberating the restricted butterfly movement in the throttle on the 1.8 engine too woohoo

Nick at Williams suggested '20 + 20' on power and torque which feels about right.

I have rolling road power / torque curves from when the car was a year or so old, tempted to repeat for a 'before and after' comparison.

Yes the modded exhaust has all the right noises on lift off, no change with remap :-)

Slightly off topic but does anyone know how to remap the 1999 Silver Top Zetec in the 4/4? I'm told its difficult with older non OBD2 ECU.
Who's the expert on these older Fords?

Sounds worth while then. Having said that you have exhaust mods so may be it wouldn't be so good on a standard car. Definitely something to think about thinking

Somewhere along the way I have lost that subtle popping that the car originally had when you lift your foot off frown

I have had individual throttle bodies and Librands exhaust installed on my 2010 Duratec Plus 4. I also have had a vacuum manifold fabricated for the throttle bodies. The crankcase breather tube goes into this. It then goes to a separate vacuum chamber and then to the brake system.

The car has also be re-mapped specifically for E10 fuel (98 octane). Peak power (rolling road) is 141.1kw (189bhp). Peak torque is 512.2 Nm. Torque is high but about 8% is lost in the transmission and also at the flywheel. The testing was done in 3rd gear.
