I was told to stop when you see the grease bulging out of the spring, then wipe off a bit nearest the disk brake with a piece of card and wipe that under the bit where the damper blade meets the chassis

Matty at Lifes showed me what he did and I've being the same since

Yep, I did mine this way at the weekend with a Wanner. It was 600 miles since the last time I did it, I gave it 5 pumps each side, not quite full strokes as my hands aren't that big so I can't do a full stroke holding the gun one-handed.

I'll order one up and have a go then, cheers guys. I don't suppose one of those warning lights on the dash is a "grease low" tell tale by any chance?

Anybody aware of a tub sized (500gms) ish dispenser that can be filled up once and used to recharge a grease gun with Red N'tacky without finishing up looking like a scene from Chain Saw Massacre?

Stewart, Phil at Allon Whites told me to lever up the bronze plate/damper blade mount and grease until it comes through the gap. This also putsgrease there to help keep the steering lighter. Only raise 2mm or so. I use a Clarke pneumatic grease gun from Machine Mart. I also have a smaller Clarke hand lever one to carry on long trips if needed.

I use a prybar pivoting on the crossframe. No great force needed. The pneumatic gun makes it easy as the trigger is easier than a normal lever.

I think you'll probably be fine with any type of gun now. The discipline you administered to your old one will have smartened the rest of them up I'm sure. Make an example of the bad 'uns and the rest will fall into line!
