It is much the same..10cm; the big difference is that the sump pan is pressed steel, not cast alloy. Some have damaged their sump more than once. Tarka has run 31,000 miles and so far the sump is undamaged.

I've no idea why.

It is clear that gated drives pose a special threat, impact with the lower gate stop a real concern. Obviously I don't move in circles where such gates are to be found... getcoat

With a steel sump one might think it can take slight impacts...but it can't! It seems that a dent in the wrong place can damage an oil pick up pipe and reduce oil flow.

Genius.

Even though I seem to have been lucky I'm going to fit one of Cain's plates. Cheaper than a new sump pan.

We have a nice centre post for our gate Peter so you are welcome to try driving over it when you are over this way !

This is the reason I have to take my Plus 8 down to the farm, and subject the sump to scuffing risk:

The Finance Director, who holds the purse strings in my house, requires that all assets work to justify their existence.
Clearly Tarka isn't exempt, and the lack of "utility" is one of the reasons a M3W will not be approved... tumbleweed

My Finance Director told me last week not to sell the Morgan!
She also told me to buy it the first place.

I'll allow you to argue the logic of your observation with Mr J next time we meet!

No, it is wood shavings to soak up the oil spill after the sump or oil filter housing splits.

ALL Aeros should be required to carry enough absorbant material to soak up 6L of oil.
