From 1969 or so, as a youngster every single 'off' I ever had was on Michelin X, ZX, or XZX so I have avoided Michelins ever since, one minute you're holding on in there next minute you're in the ditch !
Had another car about 10 years ago on Michelin Pilots at around £180 a corner, again got into trouble a few times. Swopped to Maxxis boy racer rubber at half the price on recommendation of my local tyre fitter and they were brill.
I now only use Yokos or Toyos on the Morgans although I believe the Verdresteins are good on 4/4's.

There were a couple of posts from a member called Gatewright only a couple of weeks ago - look in the Morgan photo gallery under 'New Tyres' . I think one of the posts was there

Same as Taffmog, I well remember back in the '60's driving ( I think ) my Mk1 Escort on those new fangled Michelin ZX tyres and thinking wow, these have great road holding then a couple of seconds later wondering why I was facing the wrong way.
They were good for longevity though. oldgit

Would never, ever, buy them again!

I also remember the X facter tyres, they were deadly in the wet.

XAS's must be a different animal, I really rate them but then I don't drive hooligan style so perhaps not pushed them enough.

I have xwx fitted, couldnt comment on wet weather driving yet or even pushing on in the dry but they look right which is much more important than road holding.
(I will probably regret saying that)

The XAS was a cut above the ZX and later XZX. The Michelin ZX series were known for a long life but uninspiring wet grip.

Haven't experienced the XZX but ironically Longstone Tyres praise their grip in the wet !

I have Michelin Pilote X tyres on my classic and rate them very highly.
