Have come across a beautiful Plus 4 its four years younger than mine with a quarter of the recorded mileage of mine, if I didn't have a Mog I'd definitely be in for it...but I do have one, which I love, but am attracted by the lure of the skirt of something new.... is it worth changing to get a few years back and some mileage,the cost of change is reasonable so it's not the money....ah stick or twist.. Paul just drive the other one and compare I think you will know exactly what to do then, money not being a decider  . Good Luck.

If you have a +4 Duratec and the car you are thinking of changing to is a +4 GDI take a long test drive first to ensure you like the "differences".

Ian No it won't be a GDI at 4 years younger: that would make it a 2012 model the same as mine. The Mazda gearbox is a great advantage and, depending on what has already been done, a re-map of the ECU, would be an easy upgrade. I don't know if the seats are different from the model 4 years older but I have to say that my 2012 seats are very comfortable. My advice: go and have a look at it and see if it ticks your boxes and then take her for a drive. If she doesn't decide to stay with you then you haven't found the right one

Could anyone say if it would be possible to swop out the ford gearbox for the Mazda one on my 2012 4/4?

Anything is possible, all it takes is money.
I would have thought a MY 2012 4/4 would have a Mazda box?

My 4/4 Anniversary was built early in 2012 and has the Mazda gearbox.

+1 for the Mazda gearbox. If do change out your Ford over to the Mazda I would get the newer six speed model.

I didn't consider it when I bought the car, but by comparison with a friend's morgan, the gearchange is a bit land rover. So I took it back to Allon White who were going to replace the bush, but they told me that it's a ford gearbox, and anyway, there are lots of different linkages, they're all like that, etc. etc.
In the meantime I find that 5th gear isn't really needed round our way, and I'm headed onto the M40 tomorrow morning and I'll be able to get my co-driver to hold the wheel while I try to find it. it's about 6 inches across to the right, I think
