Welcome back on the road Tim, Just in time for summer I missed all that great driving weather in April & May, June being more showery & some heavy rain. My car gained an oil cap mod. I had an O ring in it now its a flat seal with a metal plate held by a bolt through the cap which weeps a bit

I have adjusted the headlamps & revelcroed my mat. On closer inspection there is some mastic between the floor & chassis tubes so I'll hold off the sealer till I've been on wet roads.
I can see some sound damping behind the seats but will pull them out to check the gaps are sealed. I notice looking underneath that there are no alternative pedal position holes.
Under the seat they have stamped the vin & picked it out in yellow next to the frame number ( 27213 originally 0757).

TimG, it's good too hear you have your M3W back. Interesting to hear that their's not much difference in the bevel box noise. I have. 2013 as-well that I keep a close eye on the frame for cracks. Really odd you have a super high frame number now.

The NVH kit seems of no value, it just adds weight & cost. Was it a case of being seen to do something. Whatever theoretical justification seems to be just that.

Good news you're back on the road TIM. It is indeed I've been following this thread with interest and consternation and at one point I thought it was never going to happen but pleased you are back on the road

I pulled the seats out & the sound damping is still on the bulkhead behind but the gaps at the side were unsealed. Reapplied aluminium tape to the gaps in an effort to reduce dust getting in & reduce noise transmission.

Development carries on apace on the advanced M3W chassis based on an early Frank Costin design  .  3w by morgan1ste, on Flickr It's a 300SL from 1955 with lots of strength.
