- but my wife put her foot down at an 'ex' coming to our wedding. Still makes me annoyed that I had to lose a friend to gain a wife. Obviously, my wife was more tolerant. She was marrying me and so was the winner. My ex, Roz, was then married to my best mate, she came to our wedding and we to hers. She and Mike are still very close friends.

An old friend of mine used to play golf regularly with his ex wife's new husband. He used to delight in introducing his golf partner to people as "my husband-in-law"

I am more impressed that they were comfortable wearing skirts. When I was in school we would never have had the front to wear girls clothing due to the attitudes of the time.
You would never have lived it down and the name calling afterwards would have been horrible. At least modern times are more open minded and it would appear crafty. Good for them.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I recall Jimmy Saville wearing a skirt in the late 60's or early '70's......he thought that it would be a new trend.
Something about Saville in a skirt....still gives me the shivers!

In my school it was the other way round. Until 11 years old it was shorts all year but then we werent in any sense fashion conscious at that age so it didnt matter. Blazers ( different edging for prefects and rugby / cricket squad) up to lower 6th and then sports jackets if you wished.
One odd one was a guy of celtic / welsh heritage who had very dark hair. Grew a full beard at 16 and in an era when beards were rare anyway. Looked odd in assembly but the school didnt object.
Dont see how skirts for boys can be a problem when Scots wear them frequently.

As a day boy my school uniform was blazer, white shirt, grey trousers, house tie.
However for the borders it was; moleskin breeches, long yellow socks, and for out of school, a full length frock coat with a lace neck piece!!
Poor s*ds.

Growing up in the 1960s I did what I wanted, went where I wanted. Rode my Lambretta up to the top of Leigh Hill and no one seemed to care. Try that today?
Off topic, but one better. Back in 1990, out in the Mog with my girl, now wife. I missed a road sign and ended on a narrow track road going up a hill. there were a number if hikers coming down giving dirty looks, but the was no room to turn round. When I did find space to turn the Mog, I was on top of Malvern Beacon! I may be to only 4/4 2str to get there? Jon the Chief
