Spent a couple of hours prepping the Healey for its run to the IOM this Friday. Topped up the steering box ( where does the oil go as it has no leaks?) and idler, greased the front end, levels and pressures checked, a little oil in the dash pots, some chain lube on the leaf springs and a few spares chucked in the boot along with some fuel! Sorted! Didn't fuss too much with the paintwork as its already well waxed and anyway looks like it could be a rainy few days. It'll be a 4am start and a good 4 hr run up to Liver bird land, avoiding motorways to meet the other Wild Moggers and IOM here we come! Don't forget to say hello to the fairies

Nooooooo! All visitors must travel south on the A5 and when you come to The Fairy Bridge, it is good karma to greet the Fairies. Google it and see

We had a mini bus of grown men stop and get out, not for a wee, but to have a nice chat with the fairies....and that was on the way to the pub.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Definitely say hello to the fairies at Fairy Bridge. I learnt the hard way years back.
Attending the 1969 TT on my Vincent Comet, I rode over the bridge refusing to acknowledge what I considered to be a stupid superstition. Within 50 yards the Comet stopped. The ignition timing ring in the magneto had slipped out of position.
In 1970, I took my BSA 650 Super Rocket and twice I rode over Fairy Bridge without acknowledging the locals and twice I only progressed 50 yards before coming to a halt. The first time was due to a puncture in the front tyre; the second was due to a broken chain.
Those three times were the only times that I crossed the bridge. Coincidence?
After that, I decided that acknowledging the fairies at Fairy Bridge was less of an inconvenience than not and never had a problem thereafter.
