Hi polar993,
Did you remove transmission tunnel cover to gain access to BB mountings as suggested at beginning of this thread? I have heard of cars showing signs of contact of BB casing with mounts and/or chassis, which may explain your issue.

Check both top and bottom to ensure the shocks are firmly bolted on. Just a guess as to a possible source of a clunking sound.

Had same problem. It turned out (on my car) that it was the handbrake cable banging on the bottom plate. If you open the tunnel and put some tie wraps around the cable and the chassis tube there is a chance that it's gone.

Hi polar993,
I have nothing further to add, but wish you a speedy resolution and hope this turns out to be something minor. I frequently experience various "crack" sounds going over bumps and wonder what the heck was that.
This is what is so great about this forum. So many members are willing to pitch in and help solve the problem, and who knows, one of these suggestions might just be the issue with an easy resolution.
Best of luck with this.
