I got my pass at the age of 63 and 3 months. The formula was my state pension age had I been a woman. This is constantly moving forwards as female state pension age increases.
The bus pass is the least of my worries ... because of the same formula I have lost the equivalent of 5 years state pension.
When I retired in 2014 part of my planning included a "pension supplement" that my company scheme paid to males from the
female retirement age, which for me should have been next year when I'm 61. Now I won't get it until I'm 66.
I am just hoping they don't push the state pension age back even further. In the unlikely event of there still being free bus passes I'll treat that as a bonus.
