Hi
I have a 2001 plus eight and I need to remove the rear alloy panel that is damaged but after removing the rear wings and all the screws and nails it will not come off.
It is folded over at the sides and the top
Any advice welcome.

Hi Will, I noticed, that you didn't get any reply yet. Maybe nobody from this forum ever experienced a rear panel removal. But you may want to try emog.com Quite some experts there. The gomog.com workshop manual is also a great source of information. Good luck  Sunny greetings, Ivo

Hi Will, Welcome to the forum.  Sorry I cannot help either but there will be members here how have rebuilt their cars. Its just a case of hoping that they see your post soon and respond. Could it still be held with a 'sealant strip' all around the joint? I hope some experienced help comes soon.

Try the MogTalk email reflector. John Porter has done this more than once. His cars seem to be a target for blind drivers...

Hi Will,
I am rebuilding a 1985 4/4 and have removed the rear panel.The panel is held by wood screws at the top where it is folded over but the screws are covered by the interior covering ( in my case carpet material) The "folding over" of the panel at the top will need to be slightly un folded which may crack the paint.(it cracked the paint and filler underneath on mine). I realise my car is an earlier and different model but from your description it sounds as if it is constructed in a similar way.
I can PM you some photos if it will help explain the above

Philb Don't forget that depending on age/ year of manufacture, panels could be 'paint on before fitting' or 'paint on after fitting' G

Thanks guys I have taken note of your comments and the panel is now off the car, as it was damaged I cut it in half at the top and bottom and it was only brute force that was needed to remove it as there were no other fixings.
I am not looking forward to fixing the new panel when it arrives and I just hope that I will not have to do any panel beating to get it on otherwise it will be in the same state as the one I have taken off!
