I decided to get a brake light strip to fit on the Mossman trunk I have just ordered. The idea was to fix it to the trunk with velcro so it could easily be removed. I then realised that I could use the same strip on the spare wheel by using a couple of straps with velcro on them. I haven't got the trunk yet but I'm quite happy with the spare wheel solution. Th trickiest bit was working out what sort of connector a PO had used for their additional brake light feed. It turned out not to be an automotive connector but one for Tamiya RC kit.

Very nice solution I must get around to sorting one for my luggage. I feel quite vulnerable when its obscured.

David,
Could you say a bit more about the electrical connection, and maybe some photos, please? I have the same predicament (although no spare wheel).
Are you going to put the trunk above the wheel, or vice versa? Or ditch the wheel when you use the trunk, etc etc?

I haven't looked at how the PO wired in the additional light feed, I presume it is just in parallel with the built in brake light. I'll see what is involved in getting at the connections. I'm planning to ditch the spare wheel when using the trunk.

Both Chris Robertshaw (Scruffymog) and I put a third brake light on the roll bar. Works very well.

David, any more news about how to get at the brake light connection on a 4/4 sport, please? I had another look today and couldn't work out how to get at the wiring without starting to take things apart at random. I suspect it is just wired in parallel once you have got through the carpet and wood.

I wired one into my Plus 4 before going touring. If you look in the spare wheel well inside at the top, the wiring for the stop tail runs there. My cyclops light had a connector located there in the original loom. I bought the correct connector (male+female) from ebay and plugged a tee into the loom as a take off for the light. Then used a phono jack at the top of the spare wheel hole, just inside to easily plug in the stop light for on top of the luggage. This was the connector i used : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Way-Econosea...=item3f411ea348Hope this helps
