Great to hear such positive reports of Morgan dealers. Though in my 12 years of owning my 4/4 I've only once had an issue. That was an enquiry made a few years ago to a dealer over 200 miles away, I wa enquiring about a 70th Anniversary 4/4 His reply when I said I planned to come up the next day "Don't bother, we'd prefer to sell it locally" As for bits flying off. Does my hat count? Lost on a French dual carriageway.

Remember that there are two types of headlamp rims. The later ones are very slightly deeper.......................

Driving to Southport today to pick up some bits from Dave at Life's motors.
On a fast moving dual carriageway I heard a clatter and saw a shiny piece of something fly off at an angle and into the undegrowth of the central reservation.
I then noticed something black flapping in the offside headlight area.
So I pulled over a couple of miles further on at the first opportunity and was convinced a blackbird or something had taken out a light.
It turned out to be the headlight rim/bezel had flown off and the black flappy bit was the gasket flapping like mad in the wind.
550 miles in to ownership and my first issue so not too upset but the car looked awful without it.
Just counting my blessings that after a thorough investigation this bezel missed any paintwork completely, not a mark. It could have been a costly episode.
Hat's off to Lifes and a big thanks to Dave there, what a great bloke. He had a rim in stock and promptly had it fitted.
Also thanks to Steve and the guys at Oakmere the supplying dealer, they are sorting Life's out with the replacement piece under warranty.
Nice to know these Morgan dealers all seem to be very helpful and very decent people indeed.
Another great bonus that makes me all the more pleased I joined the Morgan fold.
Thanks to all concerned. As in that great Poem - " And when I cough, a bit drops off, and mingles with the dust"

Good to hear it worked out for you and you have an honest dealer that cares about his customers.

It seems the diameter of the rim is slightly variable. I had one that kept popping off at the top but the screw stopped it falling off entirely. Morgan replaced it under warranty and I eventually forwarded my old one to another owner who was able to use it without problems.
I suspect that a round of "anti-whistle" neoprene may help to keep them in place better.

Hmmm, that "anti whistle" comment is poignant. I could hear a whistle in the car on the way home after this new rim was fitted

I had the petrol tank fall out of my 4/4 once. With the aid of couple of ratchet straps, I managed to drive it around until the tank was empty enough to remove safely.
Car taken off road for rebuild after that!
