On a Trad chassis, where is the visible VIN stamped..? I understood it to be stamped into the passenger side cross member, visible from inside the car. But mine ain't..

On my 1993 +4 the chassis number is on the driver side cross member behind the seat but I had to sand the paint away to make it visible.

So far it's a bit elusive..
It's not on either of the chassis cross members ahead of the seats & those shiny covers do the trick of hiding the grey galvanising but are a pain to get off after a few years..!
Still hunting..

It is indeed, Keith. The trouble is, I have to offer a rubbing of the stamping to a nice lady at DVLA..

I presume that in the absence of a stamp it could be fixed at the factory using the stamp-on-a-cross-member jig.

Steve. It should be on the rear crossmember under/behind the driver's not the front one that's usually gets covered in carpet or posh shiny covers.

Hi, https://www.dropbox.com/s/uiwb2izl7t3ci74/IMG_20170709_132309.jpg?dl=0I exposed mine last weekend. The previous owner had scraped the paint off to reveal it. It is on the top of the cross member in the bottom right. This is a left hand drive car. 1959 Plus 4

Hello again Steve! I seem to remember that on later cars it is on the front crossmember. That's why there's no carpet on the crossmember. It was moved so that Police etc. could easily check the chassis no. Keep us informed!
