The lovely lady Alwena wanted to get back into cycling.....the only issue being the size if some of the hills around here....as Stringers Best Mate knows too well 😉
So I offered to buy her an electric bike! Blimey!! I'd rather dismissed these in the past. Went to a brilliant cycle shop in Ulverston where we had the opportunity to try out a whole range of bikes. Whilst she zoomed up and down the roads whooping with joy, I caught sight of one of the shop guys mountain bikes. A Specialised with slightly modded motor and electronics. Hop on it and take it for a spin he said.....well how could I refuse 🤓 Whoooo. Changed my views straight away.
Picked up Wen's bike this morning and bought one for myself as well! Took it for a spin beforehand. Rode out of the showroom and almost took the doorframe out....it was in turbo mode! Anyway.......I'm now hooked!

Glad you are a convert, Jay. I've had my Kalkhoff for a couple of years now, marvellous bit of kit.

That is a great looking retro with nice comfy fat tyres. Do let us know how you get on with it when it arrives.

Wow very nice design but not cheap! Why choose that one over the typical 1000 to 1500 price range?

Anyway.......I'm now hooked! Funny that you should bring up this subject John. I bought Alis an E-bike for her birthday and it arrived a couple of weeks ago. She loves it and whizzes around town at breakneck speeds. She really wants me to get one too so I just sat down to look at the shop's web site when I saw your post. I got her a Riese & Müller Swing in the version with the continuous NuVinci automatic gears.

That Ruffian is jolly cool.. Mind you, it's such a refreshing change to see leisure cycles rather than the lycra clad arrogant outdoor gymnasium Tour de France bloke thing.. PS You don't need a bike where you live Jays: you need crampons and rope..

That Ruffian looks really cool. It also has a very nice motor shaped hole in the frame, I'm sure a little 50cc engine would fill it nicely.............. I note it is 33kgs (73lbs) which is pretty heavy, and I must have missed the price on the website too, also no reference to its' range. My current Powerbyke X only does about 5 miles to a charge if no meaningful pedaling is done, although they happily quote 22 miles! OK, I have found some prices etc now. £5,499, it does around 90km to a charge, that must be around 60 miles. Probably a true 30 - 40 miles, which is impressive. But Five and a half thousand?
