The motor is nothing special and availabe in £2 to £2.5 k German and Dutch Bikes. The battery add say £150, the gears still in that area and the brakes say another £100 maybe. So cost wise say £2,800, component wise a nice bike but nothing special. The additional £3,500 is the styling of the bike, the fancy wheels and the hidden battery.

Therefore as an electric bike at best less than £3k as a fashion statement well if you have the money you are a long time dead.

This is the Riese & Muller Swing Automatic that I bought for Alis

And more-or-less because of that I ordered a Riese & Muller Cruiser Automatic.

Both bikes have Bosch motors and NuVinci H-Sync N380 automatic hub drive.

The NuVinci technology is very interesting. Worth a visit to their web site. http://www.nuvinci.info/

Just beautiful pieces of design & technology! love

And: measuring the things most of us really love by despicable money or even good sense imho just misses the point

(i.e. why in hell should any rational thinking human being ever even think of driving a Morgan? Beware of spending spend in spades to own one... hide )

You don´t actually need to be lunatic, but it certainly helps.... wine

Ha ha Jochen. Alwena has just commented. If you just add up the price of components on a Morgan, there's a hell of a lot of cost that's pure styling!

Nice Peter. I've not seen the auto hubs before. I bought Alwena a Bergamont with the same Bosch motor and battery......apart from frame mounted like yours.

The more we use them, the more I realise how much we will use them. And great for crook ankles!
