My last post on this subject earlier this month, and the one response, have seemed to have disappeared into the wild blue electronic ether!

Jan, me and “Madge” are considering to drive from the UK down to Lake Garda next year. We are looking to have a one night (Poss two) stopover(s) on the way down (and back). Can anyone recommend places to stay en route and also recommend a hotel near the lake.

I have seen the posts from late 2015 but would be grateful for any updated info.

Might be worth a look at the itinary of the Scenic and Continental Milli Miglia tour which has two stops on the way down and two stops on the way back.

They don't specify which hotels they use, but the locations of the stops may help in your planning.

We did the drive last year but our trip was more leisurely as we took three stops each way. We stayed in Desenzano at the Hotel Benaco which was very good if a little distance out of the historic old town.
