'Made in Scotland frae girders' Revolutions in Perth wouldn't let me take the S5 without a sump guard. Russell P describes it as a "Panzer" strength product. It's a larger area covered. It's not fitted to the engine and uses existing holes for placement. Engineered by a firm in Perth. I totally agree about there not being at the very least, a factory option, if existing holes can be used. It takes your preoccupations away from ground clearance and onto the darn hood! Post a picture as it sounds the business!!

I hit a large stone about a month ago. 2002 Rover Plus8. Huge bang. Thankfully a steel sump! Dent but no leaks. Phew! The chassis crossmember has grounded a few times mainly speedbumps and lack of care from me. 4 years ago I grounded on an uneven surface and lost traction. The crossmember was on a rock. I had to get out and remove it. Luckily it was a loose one. No damage. It raised the rear wheels just enough to lose grip. The area it happened is now even worse but I don't go there any more. Near Arthur's Stone on Gower. Park elsewhere.

This sounds like the one - I wonder do they make one for the V6's ?

I was at Goodwood yesterday in the Morgan and directed into a field over an unseen 'step' from concrete to grass. Gave the sump an almighty clunk and had to reverse - could not pass the step. The sump guard has been bent at the front - but no other damage. Had I not had it, the sump tray would have been ripped off - no question.

Given the number of "low riding" cars likely to visit Goodwood the presence of such a potentially damaging obstacle should be drawn to the attention of the organisers...

Maybe if you're off-roading you'd do better to use your Range Rover....

I was looking at the wolf performance sump. Wow. Not cheap. 280 GBP + VAT + shipping + packing. https://www.wolfperformance.co.uk/aero-sump.htmlIs there any discount somewhere, by chance?

It's a lot cheaper than a replacement engine!

It's a lot cheaper than a replacement engine! +1 also. I had a Wolf guard fitted last October. I'm very careful over speed bumps etc... but it's sods law that catches you out when you're least expecting it. We pay a lot of money for our beautiful cars....a sump guard is as good as insurance.
Rob Good things come to those who wait but they've usually been left by those who got there first!
