When I returned to my Mog today in the car park outside an aviation museum, I discovered five deposits of bird poo on the bodywork. All came off with relative ease when I got home and washed/polished the affected areas, but three of them have left deeper marks, apparently in the paintwork. Pic attached (actual mark is about 2cm across). Is this the result of some chemical in the poo? Can it be rectified? Really p***ed off as the car won First In Class at the MOG17 Pride of Ownership contest in Malvern last weekend!

Blimey, I thought I had bad luck..! Ouch..
I'd be inclined to leave a wet cloth on the areas overnight first, despite the polishing. It may be microscopic reside left perhaps.. And it's cheap!
Other than this, I'll sit back and await the experts..

Bad luck. Is the paint solid or metallic? Does it have a lacquer coat?

It is solid (black). Not sure about lacquer; none of the original docs mention it - but it might have been standard?

The reason I ask is that my 4/4 had a similar fate caused by seagulls. Mine has solid paint and the solution was regular gentle polishing. I used Meguiars, initially grade 2, then grade 3. Took some time, but you would not now be able to detect the location.

It's a 2006 Plus 4. I'm hoping that regular TLC will fix it!

I have a car paint shop, best way to remove bird lime marks is lightly wet flat with 3000 grade wet & dry.Polish the wet flat marks out with a mop,any good paint shop should be able to do this for you, takes about 15 minuets

Sorry to hear your bad luck and hope you manage to get it out, I'm not a polisher but I do always carry a bottle of water in the Morgan for this kind of thing as I live on the coast and it's full of shitehawks.

I find the Auto Glym bird dropping wipes to be very good, it's easy to keep a packet in the glove box
