Hi guys. I'm thinking about having pwr steering fitted to my +4. Anybody out there with any thought on the subject. MMC will supply and fit - at a price! Steve H

Hi Steve, I had Mulfab springs fitted recently, and the associated steering bearings. The damper blades were removed as part of the process. The steering on Archie is now so much better, so much lighter. I don't need to do the winter benchpress work any more.  Is this upgrade worth a try (or does not not apply to your Plus4)? Power Steering is clearly good, but at a price as you say!

GeoffR, who lurks here, bought a Plus4 with power steering already fitted. His verdict (when last I spoke to him about it) is that it's not something he would normally have considered, and he wouldn't have spent the money himself, but now that he has it he's glad he's got it. I fitted Mulfab springs and bearings some years ago, but I found it exacerbated the tendency of my car to exhibit the Malvern Dance, so I went back to the damper blades. More modern cars with steering racks don't suffer this problem anything like as much - so Glenn's experience has been much better, and I know many others who swear by the Mulfab front end setup. Conclusion? If your steering and suspension is in tip-top condition, and you still find the steering too heavy, then the power steering does work well - assuming your wallet is braced and ready for the shock!

I think David Harris (dmh) had power steering fitted to his roadster by a fairly local firm. He may well spot this, if not, might be worth sending a pm. I suspect the cost could well be less than using MMC.

My 2013 +4 had power steering fitted during build, I love it. Very light at low speed but lots of feel as you speed up.

I think this topic was covered in a previous post quite recently however, for what it's worth I have power steering on my current +4 GDI and I think it is great but, my previous two Mogs didn't have it and it wasn't something I really craved.
It's a case of you pays your money and makes your choice.

Agree with dmh, it's worth a call to Classic Driving Development Ltd, the contact I had there was Alasdair Southall. They fitted it to the TR6 I owned before I bought it but very helpful people and a really nice quality job done. Their website is www.classicdrivingdevelopment.co.ukPrice looks to be £2200 ish all in so I suspect less than MMC.
